A sponsored walk in aid of the Canalside Churches’ ministry in Hilperton and Staverton

We have received the following letter and John Trek Poster from The Revd John Rees, Rector of Canalside Benefice.

Our Canalside Churches support the villages of Hilperton, Staverton, Whaddon and Semington in many ways; for example in supporting our schools, by making our church buildings available for village groups, through organising social events, through care for the sick and and bereaved as well as offering a wide variety of online and live services for all ages.

The cost of the ministry we provide, including clergy costs and maintenance of the Tin Church in Horse Road and St Michaels in the Knap (now the Parish Church for both Hilperton and Staverton) has to largely be raised by our local congregation. Because of the effects of Covid-19 we are forecasting an end of year deficit for the Parish of Hilperton and Staverton of nearly £13000.

To raise awareness of this and to close the funding gap I am doing a sponsored walk next week. I should be grateful if you would advertise this walk using the attached poster on notice boards and online and (if you felt it appropriate) send it to your contacts.

With best wishes and thanks,
